It’s 6am now, and I’ve grown used to the
cold park bench,
wet with morning dew.

It’s a weekend, I think;
there aren’t many cars on the road
next to the empty playground I try to get some rest in.

Well,
almost empty.

A couple of early risers have jogged by me in the past hour,
and I can see an older oriental couple
practicing Tai-Chi in the distance.

The birds started chirping around 4:30;
I’m not feeling as hopeless as I felt earlier that night

The buses start running at 9,
still have quite a bit of time to kill.
I’m cold but I can’t go back to that Timmies a third time.

So I get up and walk,
nowhere in particular,
but moving still.

The funds collected through Drishtipat are going to be used in two phases.
During the first phase, funds raised immedeately will be channelled to
Bangladesh through BRAC US and BRAC UK on November 30th (
http://www.brac.net/news.htm). These funds will be used for immdiate needs
of the survivors, such as – food, water, medicine, and supplies.

The second phase of the funds collected will be donated towards the massive
global campaign of the United Bangladesh Appeal (
http://www.unitedbangladeshappeal.org/ ). This campaign pledges to raise
$500,000 to provide assistance to the surviving families. The total amount
of funds raised will be divided among survivors in order to provide the
means of rebuilding lives in the affected areas. This appeal, administered
and organized by volunteers worldwide will ensure minimal overhead costs,
and will provide us with a credible way to play a significant role in
helping out with the rehabilitation process.
